You’ve heard me announce dances as 32 count, 4 wall dance with a tag, for example. But if you’re new to line dancing, you may wonder what exactly I mean. Here’s a great article to explain it:
Thank You Patrons of FE’s!
Rather than continuing to make pleas to those not spending anything at Fast Eddie’s, instead I would like to say THANK YOU to those of you who DO support us by buying food and drinks! You are the reason we keep going! We need more people like YOU!! Like or comment if you support line dancing at FE’s every time you come out!
Change in FE’s water policy – effective 3/5/13
**ATTN WATER DRINKERS** I’ve been asked to let everyone know that effective this Tuesday, Fast Eddie’s will no longer be providing water free of charge without a purchase. Unfortunately, we’ve seen this before where the bar isn’t making money because too many people are only getting waters and not purchasing anything.
Those who joined us in Sterling last year know what can happen when a bar host doesn’t profit from our group. Unlike with previous venues though, FE’s is committed to our group and won’t cancel us, but they are a business and they do have to make money somehow.
Remember that if you go anywhere else, you usually have to pay for lessons and/or a cover just to go in, but FE’s provides everything free in the hopes that you’ll buy a few items while you’re there. Additionally, they have one of the best happy hours I’ve ever seen that goes all the way until 9pm.
To be fair though, most of you do purchase items while you’re there and we greatly appreciate your patronage. Fast Eddie’s will continue to provide a water when you purchase another item (ie: beer, food, etc). However, starting this Tuesday, they will be offering bottled water for 1.25 and gatorate for 2.00.
We hope you all enjoy dancing at Fast Eddie’s and will want it to continue, especially once the wood floor is in! Again, thank you to everyone who comes out and supports line dancing at Fast Eddie’s each week and we look forward to many more years of it!
Fulfill your New Year’s Resolution with Line Dancing
- Lose Weight/Get Healthy – Line Dancing burns ~150 calories an hour and that’s at the low impact level. Most of our dances are FAST and high impact, so you’re sure to burn more than that!
- Save Money – Fast Eddie’s offers $5 slider platters until 7 and $1.50 domestic drafts until NINE! No other bars have this good a happy hour and this late, so take advantage!
- Learn Something New – We have over 140 dances on our Tuesday night docket that we’re constantly rotating through and adding to. Think you know them all?! Probably not but if you do, we’ll just have to add more to keep your inquisitive mind wanting more!
- Manage Stress – Physical activity helps to bump up the production of your brain’s feel-good neurotransmitters, called endorphins. Plus, if you’re thinking about the dance steps or singing along to the music, you can’t think about much else!
- Get a Better Job Do this by improving your brain power and positive attitude which will help you shine in interviews. Cardiovascular exercise improves blood flow to the brain which improves brain functioning. Add in the increased production of endorphins, and you’ll stand out as a smart, positive and well-rounded addition to any team!
- Find that Special Someone– Since we started line dancing back in 2005, we have had 8 couples that have met in our class and have since gotten married or engaged. These are just those that we know of… there could be even more! So, you never know who you’ll meet, but considering it’s a fun, non-threatening environment, it makes for an easy way to get to know someone new.
- Quit Smoking– Tuesday nights are smoke free at Fast Eddie’s and if you’re out smoking, you may miss your favorite dance, so there’s some motivation for you to stay in and be smoke free at least one night a week (and hopefully it will snowball to all 7 days!).
- Volunteer/Help Others – LD4Y has performed free shows/lessons at events for charities like the The American Cancer Society, Robert Duvall Children’s Fund, Lift Me Up Therapeutic Riding Program, and Joe Gibb’s Youth for Tomorrow. We’re hoping to do even more this year, so if you want to participate in a performance or know a charity that would like to have us perform, please let me know.
So join DJ Jillbilly and I at Fast Eddie’s in Centreville and let’s start your new year out right!
Mahalo Cove Cancelled
I’m sorry to announce that we have cancelled Country Rockin’ Wednesdays at Mahalo Cove. I truly appreciate everyone who came out to support it and am so grateful for the many new friends we have made there. I also want to thank Mahalo Cove for the opportunity over these past 11 months.
While we had a good number of dancers turn out each week, we didn’t have enough sales to make it work. This is an issue that’s plagued line dancers for years (we don’t drink a lot because we want our whits about us to dance, but then the bar doesn’t make enough money to offset the entertainment costs). We are still considering other venues for Wednesdays as well and will seek to keep DJ Freedom with us as he’s been a great addition.
In the meantime, I hope you’ll all join us at Fast Eddie’s every Tuesday night. FE’s has great drink specials (1.50 domestic drafts!) until 9, $5 sliders until 7 and we teach 3 dances every week. So hopefully our new Wednesday night family will come join us there! But let’s all remember how easily these nights can be taken away if we don’t support the establishment that’s providing it free of cost (other local venues charge you a cover and/or fees for lessons). So, come early for dinner and drinks and bring your friends to enjoy the fun and refreshments. Together, let’s make sure we keep line dancing going! Thank you all again for your enthusiasm, friendship and support.

Have you ever wanted to be a line dance instructor?
Line dancing is growing in this area and I’m looking to bring on an additional instructor to join the LD4Y team!
As you can hopefully tell from me, teaching line dancing is about as much fun as doing line dancing, so if you’re interested in taking your line dancing to the next level, let me know!
Email me at Danielle@LineDance4You.com for more information!
I was born to be a line dance instructor
You know growing up, I recall my people always telling me, “You talk too fast” or “You’re so loud” or “You’re just too hyper”.
I used to always think there was something wrong with me, but now as I look around on the dance floor to the people that appreciate me yelling dance steps so they can hear it over the music or as I call every step of a dance no matter how fast or see how contagious my natural energy is, I realize that there was never anything wrong with me. I just had to find my calling.
So, the next time you’re told that you’re “too this” or “too that”, maybe you just need to find the hobby or job that fits those “too” habits for you! 🙂
What you REALLY need in order to line dance
I was looking around last night and without knowing it, my dancers taught me a great lesson. That is that there’s a big difference between what people THINK they need to line dance and what they really do need. Here’s what I learned…
What most people THINK they need:
- Boots or good dance shoes
- A good dance floor
- Rythym
- Coordination
- A good memory
Last night my dancers reminded me that, in reality, what we need is:
- A good sense of humor (and the ability to laugh at ourselves)
- Good friends
- Good music
- A willingness to help and be helped
- A great attitude
That’s it! The rest can be taught. Just don’t take yourself too seriously and have a smile on your face even when you screw up (and believe me, we ALL screw up – you guys know I do!!) and you’ll do great! Thanks to all my dancers for reminding me of this great lesson!
